Emmett and the White Boy - Sally Mann
I love the work she did with her family. A lot of her photos are controversial but from my point of view, the scenes depict something that every parent sees when their child is growing up. I know my parents have photos of me as a kid running around without a stitch of clothing up and even some of the cuts and bruises I got along the way. Of course, Sally Mann took those photographs both deliberately and spontaneously which give a completely different effect to the photos but they are no less breathtaking or precious and I certainly don’t think they’re perverse.
